Worst Fridge on the market

Absolutely the worst product you can buy. I am on my third 48™ built-in in 15 years (yes third). First one died less than 10 years old. Bought a second one and yes it died in two years (have 6 service calls and they could never figure out why it died). So glad I bought an extended warranty through RC Willey, they replaced it. And now in its second year it is not working. Had a tech out for the second time as it was making noise and stopped working. He replaced the entire cooling fan and pan and it worked for less than one day. I am now waiting another week for the tech to come back. DO NOT buy this product it is the worst. I do not know what happened to GE quality but it is junk. I have an extended warranty but will never buy another GE product again...

I left a review a year ago stating how it keeps breaking and the fridge and freezer lose their ability to maintain temperature. Guess what?? It™™s still happening!!! The repair tech gave me his personal cell phone number because I call so frequently. His idea of fixing was that I should defrost the whole fridge for a few hours and then turn it back on. Sometimes that works, sometimes it doesn™™t™¦either way, does that sound like something you want to be doing every two weeks? This is the most expensive item in my house and it™™s a piece of garbage.

We purchased this refrigerator 5 years ago. It has been problematic since we got it. Service companies have come and gone, replaced parts and given advice, but the main problem remains. This unit will randomly stop cooling for a while, then after a day or 2 will start working again. This is not how a functional appliance is supposed to work. Never mind the incredibly loud buzzing noise, that was fixed (sort of). Refrigerators 20 or 30 years old, or newer designs that can be had for 1/10 the price of this one simply keep working. This lemon has serious design flaws that guarantee poor performance and short service life. Take the money and buy a nice used car, it will last a lot longer. If you must purchase this product, don™™t even think about skipping the extended warranty.

$10,000+ Paperweight ™ Constant Compressor Failure

I bought this "luxury" refrigerator expecting reliability, but it has been an absolute disaster. The compressor is fundamentally flawed. Within the first year, the cooling failed entirely, and despite multiple professional repairs and parts replacements, the issue persists. Every few months, I wake up to a warm fridge and hundreds of dollars in ruined groceries. It has been repaired three times now, and each time the technician claims it™™s "fixed," only for the compressor to start struggling again weeks later. For a built-in model at this price point, the build quality is unacceptable. Do not be fooled by the "Smart" features™"the only thing smart about this fridge is how quickly it stops working after the warranty expires. Avoid this model unless you enjoy living out of a cooler while waiting weeks for backordered parts.

Freezer Fan fills with ice making it VERY LOUD

I have read many of these reviews and for the most part we love our refrigerator, but we have one issue that I have figured out why it is happening, and I just ask our warranty company to work with GE to determine if they have modified the part that causes this issue. The fan in the freezer is out of balance, and the noise is crazy loud. Last time I called for service the Service Department Employee could not hear me on the phone because the freezer fan was too loud. This little fan blade is shaped like a large bottle cap with the fan blades attached. The core "bottle cap" area faces upward so it collects, not repels any moisture that lands on top of it. The moisture turns to ice and that spot of ice makes the fan blade unbalanced and the noise is a result. Then more moisture enters and this just keeps going Our last "repair" involved removing the fan blade, running hot water on it to remove the ice buildup and putting it back. It took about a week for the cycle to start again as the symptom was addressed and the cause was ignored GE, please do not copy and paste your "I'm so sorry you are having issues...." nonsense. Please engage folks that can make this fix in an hour or two. Re-design the fan blade so the "cap" potion faces downward. or make the core solid or Let us know when a new refrigerator is going to be installed

Good Replacement Model

My previous Monogram died. I was not willing to "wait" 6 to 8 weeks for a new Monogram and the Profile was in stock. Basically the Profile and old Monogram were very similar. The reason for a 4 instead of a 5 is design of interior options. The new Profile does NOT have the butter dish shelf in the door - big negative for me. I'm not sure if installation missed various "tabs" or whether tabs sticking out from the walls is now required. Thank goodness I loved the adjustable 2 shelf from the old Monogram and it fits in the new Profile. YAY for me catching that option. My suggestion to GE is to make several door and inside shelf options for both the refrigerator and freezer sections. Allow customers to customize their interior shelves to their lifestyle. The GE employees deserve a "10". Everyone I worked with was AWESOME and helpful.

Thankful the replacement refrigerator fit perfectly into the cabinet that the old refrigerator was built around. The LOSS of the butter dish shelf with an easy open/close is the reason for a 4 rating instead of 5. Granted adjustable shelves are adequate, but I want the door option for holding my butter dish. Also, there are NO options to purchase a door shelf like my previous refrigerator. Errrr not happy, but adjusting.

I spent over $150,000,.00 on a kitchen remodel. I made the biggest mistake ever buying this refrigerator! It is the biggest pile of crap! Within the first 6 months off being installed it started freezing up. Fan has been replaced four times and GE has done zero to warranty any of the expense. Direct appliance where I ordered all of the GE appliances for the remodel wouldn't stand behind the product. I would recommend buying any other brand before a GE appliance. Its not worth the box it came in. Looks nice though.

GE puts RFID readers in their fridge to stop people from using counterfeit water filters. And when this RFID reader fails, it stops you from using genuine GE water filters. This means you can't use YOUR fridge which you paid for to dispense WATER or ICE unless you pay them hundreds of dollars.

This model is much like what we had in our other house. I really love the smaller ice cubes it makes. The capacity is great with moveable shelves to meet our needs. The freezer doesn't seem to get as cold as our prior model, but still does the job. Our prior model would cycle the freezer and have warm periods where this one does not. As first the refrigerator was very quiet but seems to have gotten a little louder over time, but not enough to call someone to look at.

I am on my second refrigerator of this model (modelZISS360DNZBSS) Both units had/have issues with not maintaining temperature and fan burn out. You would™™ve thought that GE would™™ve fixed the problem between my first unit and second unit, but they have not. GE service repair only maintains one service employee per area, which means if that person calls out sick, as they did for me today ( no call until I called them to ask why nobody showed up or contacted me)your fridge will not be serviced for an indefinite amount of time. This is not the first time that this has happened to me. Why GE only employees one person per service area is beyond ridiculous. It™™s been that way for a while and it™™s clear they have no Intention of changing. Non-GE Repair servicemen proved to be incapable of servicing these units, so calling anyone else as is an utter waste of time. If I knew then what I know now, I would never have committed to this product but the space is limited and it™™s hard to find something else with the same dimensions. For the price, you expect better.

I am renting a property in which this refrigerator was installed one year ago. It has now broken down twice. The fan which circulates the cold air above the ice maker has now died twice. The first time, under warranty, it was making a tremendously loud noise. Though alerted of this, GE did not take it seriously; it took 6 weeks to get it repaired, and only after the noise stopped and it completely died. This time, now under extended warranty - the owner wisely extended it after the first failure - it died with no warning, just a 48 inch fridge full of rotting food. Thanks, GE! At this price point, it is hard to imagine there are any worse options. In fact, this is the worst refrigerator you can buy at any price point. It is garbage. Even the repair guy said so. So do yourself a favor and do literally anything else with your money; you will be better off.

DO NOT BUY THIS FRIDGE!!! I fact think twice about buying ANY GE product. I would give it 1 star for looks only. The unit does not work. I bought it from Best Buy only 3 years ago. I am dealing with my 7th service call for not cooling in the past year and a half on this 3 year old fridge. There have been multiple case numbers. GE closes my cases when there is no activity for 30 days. I have lost thousands of dollars in food with a unit that has gone out over 7x.(once on Christmas Eve!) Their engineering dept has been consulted multiple times. This is a design issue with this model. GE is aware of the flaw and won™™t do anything but make customers wait for them to figure out a solution. This is 2024, a working refrigerator is a normal expectation in an American home. I paid about $10k for it new! In August I was told that Engineering has put a part into production. There is no update to when the part will be ready. It doesn™™t even have a part number yet! They won™™t replace the unit even though they warranty the evap system for 5 years on this unit. They keep having me wait longer for this part that they are supposedly making that doesn™™t have a part number. I am at the end of my rope. My next step is to contact the Federal Trade Commission and State Attorney General to file complaints. I HOPE THIS GETS YOUR ATTENTION GE! Call me GE! You can look my number up in your system. You have my associated email with this review. Oh and the Ice maker went out after only 14 months after install. It is JUNK and the company is a MESS. BUYER BEWARE!!!

Not going to last long

The fridge worked fine for around 2 years. Then it started making a loud noise from the back of the freezer. I had paid for an extended warranty so I called to have it fixed. By the time the tech came, the noise had stopped but the fridge and the freezer weren't getting cold enough and everything was defrosting. The tech decided that it was because the gasket was loose. They ordered a new one but I scheduled another appt because a fridge doesn't become 60 degrees from a loose gasket. They decided, based on my description of the symptoms, that the motor and fan must be bad. They ordered new ones and the tech came to replace them. He said nothing was wrong with the current motor and fan but he changed them anyways. Not surprisingly, this didn't fix the problem and my freezer is still close to 40 degrees and the fridge is at 60. So they are coming back in 2 days to try and figure out the problem, but after reading all the other reviews, I do not have high hopes that it will be fixed. The last tech said maybe the whole board has to be replaced. Doesn't sound like anyone knows how to repair what seems to be a very common problem with this fridge.

We have had this Profile- low-end Monogram for less than 2 years and had 6 service calls. Since day 6 of ownership we have had problems with the ice maker and ice dispenser. Service calls were very difficult to place even though we had purchased an extended warranty from GE. Ice sometime is made, other times no ice. Ice - if made can take up to 2 minutes to fill a tumbler. 1 cube at a time. Offered to accept from GE a countertop ice maker to solve the ice issue - oh no that was unacceptable. That division of GE does not work with the fridge group - Haier. Sad view of a huge shop and no integration. Shoulda called Culp when this started.

Very disappointed in the quality/workmanship of this unit. Replaced a Monogram built in fridge that also had cooling issues, but at least made it almost 20 years with repairs. This unit failed within the FIRST TWO MONTHS of operational service and getting service scheduled was difficult and dealing with CR was a complete joke. I normally refrain from writing bad reviews, and especially on a company I have been loyal to for all our product purchases for almost two decades, but the quality appears to be suffering all around now. Heed the other poor reviews on this product and purchase something else, I can confirm this fridge reviews poorly for a good enough reason.

It's fine. Nice size. Not sure how I feel about the # of shelves. The fridge it replaced had more so it's an adjustment. The ice cubes could be a bit bigger. Water could be colder. Otherwise, it's good. Keeps the food cold, and that's what truly matters.

We purchased a brand new home from a builder and this product was installed in the kitchen. We have been living with it for almost 3 years now and our experience with it has been very challenging. Over time it started making noise at increasing levels, coming from a internal fan that is behind the freezer. The noise is unbearable, to the point where we could not be in the kitchen for long periods of time. While researching online forums I discovered that this is a common problem with this model due to faulty design -- so impossible to fix permanently. Indeed we suffered through various service appointments that changed the fan, the door gasket, and various other components but the problem keeps reappearing. It is now almost two years into our saga, and I am going crazy. So I finally found the courage to write this review to warn future customers: save yourself the trouble and DO NOT BUY THIS MODEL. You are gambling with your money, and chances are that you will get this noise with no real long term fix. Let me also address one point that I think consumers should care for. While writing this review, I noticed that GE presented me with review guidelines that say "Avoid writing about customer service, contact us instead if you have issues requiring immediate attention". As part of the most recent attempt to fix the fan noise, GE technicians left and subsequently both the fridge and the freezer started losing temperature. I am not sure what they did, if they forgot to connect something or turn something back on, but subsequently the temperature inside the fridge started rising (about 50F within the next 24h), and the mobile app sent me >99 notifications about it, asking me to immediately contact GE. We contacted GE customer service, only to hear that "the next available appointment is in a few days, and we will send someone then". We explained that this is an urgent manner because this was caused by the technicians and we will have to throw away spoiled food if not addressed immediately, but to no avail. There is no escalation process and there is no special consideration for emergencies. So as much as I would like to follow review guidelines and avoid discussing customer service, I believe it's within my rights to warn people about the kind of treatment they will receive: "contact us if you have immediate needs" means ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to GE. Note that we have extended warranty and are currently awaiting for GE to approve our request to replace the unit altogether, hopefully with a newer model that does not suffer from the design deficit. Should this fail we will request to be reimbursed for the original value, and if this fails we will then initiate proceedings for small claims court. I wish everybody else better luck, if they are considering buying a GE fridge!

This has been one of the worst purchases I have made. First of all, for such a high price of built-in refrigerator, the material and workmanship is so cheap. The internal shelves have such sharp edges that you have to be very careful keeping things in and taking them out or they cut your skin. The material looks cheap and work like sealing caulk and stuff is poorly put as if there is no consideration for quality. The other annoying problem I started having was - a noisy fan sound started coming from the refrigerator in first 3-4 months. I called customer support under warranty and they sent some third party to take care of it. The technicians who showed up had no idea and after couple of trips just changed some part and left. After six months since then the same problem has started and I have to call customer service again. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK.

I "downgraded" from the Monogram (which was also loud) to the cheaper GE Profile 48". It is significantly louder than the Monogram. The ice machine is also INCREDIBLY and PAINFULLY SLOW. It takes about 30 seconds to get 10 pieces of ice out of it, and they are so small. I'm not happy with this purchase at all. The only good parts are that the water works and it fits the whole my Monogram left in the kitchen. Other than that, extremely disappointed.

The freezer section is perfect, plenty of storage space. The refrigerator, not so much. I am pretty sure we had more storage space in the 48" wide, counter-depth KitchenAid than in this one; just seems like there is not enough depth. Other than that, great.

I was pigeon-holed into the older model of this fridge 9 years ago because of the house we bought. It was riddled with issues for the whole 9 years. I finally gave up chopping the glacier out of my freezer once a week and broke down to buy a new one in November of 2022. Received first defective one on May 4th. They finally swapped it on June 6th and this one doesn™™t cool at all. I e been told by two separate technicians that it is deemed repairable, but it will continue to break. For $10k I should be getting a brand new refrigerator, not one that has been bandages back up. It is now June 26th and I am being told they haven™™t ordered the part to fix it and they won™™t replace it. The worst customer service I have ever dealt with in my life. Rude, uncooperative, and useless. This should be zero stars.

We had a GE profile from 2007. Motherboard was faulting as freezer would oscillate from 0 to 30 consistently and they stopped making and none on the aftermarket. For a $10,000 refrigerator you™™d think they™™d continue to service them!! And they told the thermometer of this unit™¦hmmm, wonder why. Only reason I bought this one is do to low price compared to step up refrigerators are 2000 to 5000+ more.
