Perfect replacement for IKEA

Low power, clock doesn™€™t display properly

The microwave has always had low power. Melting a tablespoon of butter takes a minute and a half. About two years in to owning the display broke and you can™€™t tell what the first number is.

The control panel is cheap plastic and should be glass. This is an overpriced microwave that™€™s also anemic on power. For a luxury brand like KA it should be made like a high end product. Shame on KA for cheap king this unit!

My microwave has stopped heating again. The appliance technician charged $150.51 to replace the thermostat on 9-11-23. The microwave only worked a week. The technician came out again to replace high voltage diode on 11-7-23. The high voltage diode didn't fix the issue, No charge. The appliance technician came to my house again on 11-28-23 to replace the magnetron costing $265.02.The microwave has stopped heating again this morning 11-30-23. This microwave has a high quality price but it is low quality.

Might as well boil water on the stove

We bought this microwave to replace the previous 1000 watt built-in model thinking the performance would be as good if not better than the earlier version of this 1000 watt microwave. It takes almost twice as long to bring water to boil and cook a small bag of popcorn as the previous model. The service tech told us that ™€œit meets their spec™€ so they must have downgraded their spec. Save yourself the $1200 and buy a $70 microwave from Wal-Mart. Shame on you KitchenAid - your quality has deteriorated extremely. If I could send this back I would!

Nice Microwave. Failed after 2 years.

We purchased this microwave for our kitchen remodel so the cabinetry was built around this microwave along with the other appliances. We liked it very much. Looks great, worked well. After 2 years it failed. It went in and out of the shop for over a month. The repair people could not get it to work even after consulting with the repair people at Whirlpool. We had a 1 year warranty. We had to have this model because of the cabinets. This was a $2000+ microwave. I called to appeal our case. The first person I talked to understood and gave us a code for a 40% discount on a new one. As it turned out, this model was out of stock with no date for it becoming available again. I was told that we could renew the loyalty/discount code every 30 days. We found out the microwave wouldn™€™t t be available for months. We even consulted our contractor asking if we could reconfigure the cabinets. He said it would be difficult and expensive. We were able to renew our code twice. The 3rd time I called, I was confronted with a new set of customer service people. They said the rules had changed and besides, I should never have been given the code. It was reserved for ™€œspecial customers™€. The phone call was beyond frustrating. I asked to speak to a supervisor™€"same response. The bottom line™€"the microwave came back in stock 5 months after it failed. We had no choice but to buy it again. Luckily it was on sale at about 25% off. Very, very, very frustrating experience

came DOA fall of 2021 (i would have returned immediately but needed something because of the appliance delays). they installed a new motherboard and it ran fine for a little over a year. now it turns on but won't heat. we've had a repair man here 3 times (4th time pending) absolutely horrible microwave. lemon.

I've had this microwaved serviced three times since purchase and it still does not work at every usage. If there is a clicking noise when you start a cycle then it is not heating. If it is not clicking then it is heating. Whirlpool sent someone out three times during the warranty period, never was fixed, used two different repair services, both said this was a lemon and needed to be replaced. Once warranty was up, whirlpool would not service nor review my situation and consider my replacement. This was my one and only Kitchen Aid appliance and probably my last.

For the money spent on this microwave, I would say it's not great. We purchased this microwave because we purchased all 6 Kitchenaid appliances top match for our new kitchen. Our first arrived damage and a second was delivered after a few weeks of waiting. The trim piece on the left side that was supposed to cover up the cutout of the cabinet was manufactured incorrectly and could not be installed as per the manufacturer. So, we await our third microwave, we shall see what that brings... In the mean time, the current microwave functions fine but could be better. We have yet to pop a perfect bag of popcorn either using the popcorn setting or just adding appropriate time. The "cool" down feature is annoying. Anytime you cook anything that creates some steam, the microwave needs to cool down for several minutes and continues with a humming sound. I do like the look of the microwave and the stainless steel interior.

Advertised option to mute tones is a lie!

The reason, the only reason I bought this microwave is because the unit is advertised as being able to mute the tones/beeps that are so annoying. On page 6 of the user manual under the Tones category it clearly says "tones may be muted". I spent 55 minutes on the phone with three different people who ultimately decided that this feature is not available on this unit. I am now out $1,500 for the microwave and $200 for installation fees plus what it took to modify the cabinet that we mounted the unit in above the oven. I could not be more disappointed. If it doesn't have this feature the manual should not say it does. I can only hope the retailer I bought this from will make it right.

Like the size as well as the interior. Wasn™€™t sure about a drop down door as I am short, but it has not been a problem. A little overpriced for a microwave oven; but I wanted oven and Mwo to match. Unfortunately, they don™€™ t match as the oven has a chrome trim around window and mwo does not. I am not a fan of the controls on this mwo. Most mwo™€™s you can walk up to and program them; nothing real logical here.

Beautiful design that adds a high level of sophistication to our kitchen. Everything from warming a cup of coffee to defrosting a roast is done in half of the time of our previous microwaves. The only drawback, if there is one, is that the pull down door can be a challenge to access the oven if this is installed at the typical height of an over the range microwave. Those who are of a short stature may find this to be a bit cumbersome in utilizing this microwave.

Purchased an entire Kitchen of KA appliances - Built in 48" refrigerator, double convection oven, 36" induction cooktop, exhaust hood, dishwasher, and this microwave. Due to delays in a remodel, I had the appliances for several months before they were installed. The microwave is dead out of the box. After chatting with a support agent I am told that : "The warranty we supply is a functional repair based warranty. Product replacements, exchanges and or refunds are excluded from this policy. The warranty is strictly for repairs." So they can send defective products out and then send a repair person to patch it up. REALLY disappointed, I expected better customer service. Maybe it was the agent I chatted with. She also asked for the full address where the appliance is - I gave it to her and she asked is there the same address we would send service - UM yes, unless it can be repaired telepathically. I can't really rate any of the features because I haven't been able to even turn it on. Therefore I have given a 1 star rating on all facets. IF it is successfully repaired next week, and I am able to see it work, I will update my review. In the meantime I can't recommend KitchenAid to anyone for anything. I have over $20,000 worth of appliances that basically as is. The service man coming out to fix the microwave works for a local company - who knows how competent he will be??
