Horrible - Ice Maker in Door a BIG Design Flaw

Purchased in 2012. April 2013 ice maker auger motor burns out. Issue is that ice melts a bit when door opened, even for short periods. A $600 repair under warranty. July of 2014 -- need a new auger motor again (despite taking all precautions -- periodically dumping out ALL ice, otherwise making sure ice is broken up and not re-freezing in big block at bottom of tray. Also have learned that ice sometime gets "stuck" in the upper tray where is actually made (back in 2013 that motor also burned out due to a jam) -- so I have learned how to pull it all apart ... where you can see that small water drips create a large block of ice that surrounds the auger motor (need to pen that all up and chip it out or when block fills up the empty space down there, water ends up running down door and freezing in door trays). Another $600 repair. Less than a year later, in April of 2015 the SAME thing all over again. Another year or so, when blows out for the FOURTH time, we give up and start taking ice out of bin by hand. Next refrigerator will insist that ice maker be at top of freezer, NOT in door. Every repair technician confirmed that is a big problem and stupid design.

I love my new Counter-Depth refrigerator. It solved my guest flow problems in my kitchen. I had a wedding shower lunch and everyone had room to walk around without the refrigerator jutting out into the aisle. I am amazed what a difference this made. And of course everything else about the refrigerator is great also.

Always has a small puddle of water where the doors meet

Super expensive to repair, have had a problem with condensation since the day it was plugged in. Asked two different repair men sent out by kitchen aid ( to repair something else) , how to get rid of the "puddle". Neither of the temperature adjustments worked. Because I purchased the refrigerator for a newly remodeled kitchen, we literally had less than a week of warranty left by the time we installed it, therefore I hesitate to call for another evaluation because the condensation is STILL there, worried about the puddle ruining my brand new wood floor!

KitchenAid Refrigerator Scores a Perfect 10!!!!

I just moved into my condo and knew someday I would purchase a new refrigerator. I went out to to purchase several items one needs after moving into a new home and found this particular refrigerator near some other units. I looked at it and it didn't take long to realize that it was just perfect for me! It had been a Special Order Item, but the people changed their minds and cancelled the order, and I was lucky enough to buy it! The glass shelves and storage bins keep everything neatly organized, but visible at all times and they clean up beautifully. The ice maker and water dispenser are really nice-to-have features too. Its great just dispensing a glass of cold water with or without ice. I just LOVE this refrigerator!
