A very new install but all great so far. Problem is warranty - when registration via phone was taken was told 1 yr. But checking on line have document that states 5 years. no one knows what warranty actually is. Very confusing.

First of all, it came in with a damaged part which we have service call in for and waiting on the part, fortunately it is operating producing ice. Then, it started making a clunking noise and I called that in and we have an appointment scheduled for them to come out to assess. Hopefully, this is not how things are going to trend with this appliance. Also, we owned this same unit previously and had a couple of issues and it only lasted 5 years. We had a GE Monogram prior to that, it lasted 15 years. The Jury is def out on this appliance at this point!

SECOND KITCHENAID ICE MAKER - FAILED AGAIN!!!!!!

This is my second KitchenAid under the counter ice maker, and once again I am extremely disappointed. The unit is only 13 months old and is already not working properly. After the first MONTH of getting the new machine, it stopped producing ice. Repairman said it was the freon. Now, instead of full cubes, it is producing ice slivers, which makes the machine basically useless. For a brand like KitchenAid and a very expensive appliance, this is unacceptable. I chose KitchenAid again because I trusted the name, but having two of these units fail has completely shaken my confidence. At this price point, an under-counter ice maker should last years, not barely over a year. I regret this purchase and would not recommend is product unless KitchenAid steps up and stands behind it. My experience with KitchenAid customer service has been disappointing as the product. Getting help has been difficult, slow, and ultimately unhelpful. Completely frustrating! What I would like is for KichenAid to contact me directly and not through Facebook!!!!!!!

Never received, mix up on order, never told. Called, said I would have to reorder. Tried to reorder, said it was no longer made I would have to order new stock. Waited weeks, still the same (old) model on their web site for sale. Customer service said not to order old model as would never receive. Someone needs to supervise!

We redid our kitchen and debated on purchasing the ice maker. Best purchase we made. We use lots of ice and this ice maker has met our expectations. We love all the ice. It was also beneficial that the handle could go on either side so that worked for the set up of our kitchen cabinets.

Disappointing lifespan for an expensive ice maker

For the price, I expected this ice maker to last far longer than it did. After just five years of normal home use, it developed a freon leak, which renders the unit completely unusable. I was told the refrigerant system isn™€™t realistically repairable, meaning the entire machine has to be replaced. But even a year before that, the ice maker was acting up and had to be repaired for not keeping the ice cold enough. This is especially frustrating given how expensive the unit was to purchase. A sealed system failure starting after only four years points to poor long-term reliability or manufacturing quality. At this price point, consumers should expect a decade or more of service™€"not a total failure that ends up in a landfill. I cannot recommend this product based on durability alone, and I would strongly caution others to consider brands with better warranties or proven long-term reliability.

Makes a ton of ice

Always wanted one, now I have it and love the volume of ice. My only complaint would be a way to lower the ice production for day to day usage. Maybe it does this but I have not figured it out yet. It makes so much ice as soon as I open the door its spilling out, which is great for high usage days but those are few and far between.

We had a 15" Kitchenaid icemaker (under counter) in our last home and loved it. Only had 15" in our newer home to fit one in. Boy is it noisy!!! My sister bought one too and complains about how noisy it is. Their bedroom is across the house (over 4k sq ft) and they have to close their bedroom door at night or it keeps them awake.

Within weeks of purchase my icemaker stopped working. I contact service and a rep came to my house. A diagnosis showed that a small pump had failed, a new one was ordered, and it was subsequently replaced. Since then, no problems and it gets used heavily each day.

Just over 2 years old, stopped making good ice, out of warranty and need a new valve $480 ouch! Tech told me get a regular filter and put on the incoming water line filters water before the valve. Filter in the machine filters water after they valve, wish I knew that.

Purchased a Kitchenaid built in Icemaker in May. This was our 4th unit. It was delivered and set up by a technician. We called because it produced so much heat - it was actually melting about half of the ice it made. A tech came out to examine it and found it to be true that there was too much heat. He ordered a fan that he thought was defective. Received new fan and installed it but had just as much heat. Calling Kitchenaid (waiting on phone over an hour) and they told us that that is just the way the new units are. We are stuck with an icemaker that melts ice!! NO CUSTOMER SERVICE.

Purchased this to replace a U-Line unit that was 15 years old before it died. Love the drop down ice bin shelf (some thing U-Line) did not offer which keeps ice in the bin and not the floor. Wish the instructions for changing the hinges orientation were included. Also the hinge covers could be designed better as they are not visually pleasing when using in a free standing application. Had to modify top one to install a top. Love the ice! No need to break up flat sheets that are used in most others.

This past holiday season, our ice maker ™€œclean™€ light came on. I purchased Affresh cleaner and followed the instructions. Ever since, the ice looked moth eaten. Then it stopped working all together. The repairman stated that the plate was ruined and that cleaner had a chemical reaction to the metal plate that makes the ice. He claims the appliance is beyond repair! I™€™d like to know just what it is you are supposed to use to clean the ice maker.

I love my ice maker BUT™€¦. We had to spend an extra $500 to get it working and it was brand new. Please please please read the fine print before you buy. Customer support said it came with everything I needed to use right out of the box. But when the repair man got to my house because it would not work right out of the box, he said I needed a drain pump of sort 🤦™€™™€ï¸ðŸ¤¦™€™™€ï¸ there goes another $500 on top of the cost of it for $2700 and $300 for the warranty 😣😣

Worst appliance I've ever owned.

I bought this one month ago and it is ALREADY MALFUNCTIONING! I don't have ice cubes, I have thin little ice chips. I was hesitant to go back to KitchenAid ice makers after my last one died after only 3 1/2 years, but it matched the rest of my appliances. The only comfort here is the opportunity to tell my wife "I told you so." I'll give it a "1" because it freezes water into ice in the academic sense. A repair person is coming today, which is the second time in two weeks. After what the Whirlpool company offered me after my last ice maker died, I have no hope they will make this situations right. In case you were wondering, it was professionally installed, as usual.
