It was really expensive to get it installed. I paid $500 to get the ductwork and wall repaired after removing the old Kitchen Aid hood. When it was delivered the prior work wasn™™t right as the installation directions were vague. The wall was cut and the duct modified that cost another $350. It works well and we are happy to have our new appliances all installed.

Worst Appliances Sold in the US

We remodeled our kitchen and got all Kitchen Aid appliances. The dishwasher in particular is the worst appliance we ever purchased. It has been one year since starting the remodeling and we now have our third dishwasher. And this one works. The first one arrived damaged. The second one worked for a while, but never correctly. It did not drain properly. We called the local service company (twice) and the guy could not repair the dishwasher because Whirlpool (who owns Kitchen Aid) does NOT keep parts in stock. They are ordered from somewhere. My guess is China. The dishwasher is assembled in Poland. The serial number and model number on the tag have one extra digit than the units that are made in other nations. So-o-o customer service could never locate our unit on their database. We could not easily arrange for repair or to talk to anyone, because the persons on the phone could not find the serial no/model number. Customer service does not seem to be properly trained. Their ability to answer our questions or provide help is only slightly better than talking to a trained dolphin. Our dishwasher stopped working the first part of November, 2024. We finally got a working replacement mid March 2025. I will never, ever buy another Whirlpool appliance. Go to reviews of Whirlpool products and you will see all the reviews are negative. And yet Whirlpool is still in business. The company makes no reply to the negative reviews. And the customer service people are not aware of the poor reviews. Maybe they are locked inside their cubicles. So if you want to buy a new Whirlpool product or from a company they own like Kitchen Aid or Maytag, then please go to another company.

This vent hood failed (control panel burned out). It does an awful job at filtering out grease and grease makes its way into the internal parts - which is just a terrible design. A major appliance failing after a few years is an absolute joke. The part replacement is $500+ not including labor. Extremely disappointed in KitchenAid, completely unacceptable lack of quality for this product.

Terrible Experience with KitchenAid Appliances I am extremely disappointed with my experience ordering KitchenAid appliances. I placed an order for a range, dishwasher, hood, and microwave on October 11, eagerly anticipating their arrival. I was given a delivery date of November 16, which I thought was reasonable. However, I soon received an email stating that my dishwasher was out of stock. On November 16, the day I was supposed to receive my appliances, I didn™™t hear anything from them. I decided to call and was shocked to learn that the range was also out of stock! After months of waiting and being let down, I finally received the dreaded news that my entire order was canceled because everything was out of stock. The lack of communication and the constant changes to my order are unacceptable. I expected better from a brand like KitchenAid, and I certainly won™™t be recommending their products to anyone in the future. Save yourself the frustration and look elsewhere for your kitchen needs!

This hood came with my new house and I really like it. The design is sleek and simple, which speaks to me. It is quiet when it's in (except on high, and you wouldn't expect it to be quiet!) I like that the filters don't show - they did in the hood in my last house.

Avoid Defective Motor Repeated Failures

This venthood has been a disaster to own. The motor has failed 3 times. Each repair by a Kitchenaid repair shop last only through a few uses. Kitchenaid has offered a prorated credit to be applied to another venthood which is unacceptable given the unit has needed 3 repairs in 18 months.

I brought this venthood when updating my all of my kitchen appliances. Within 4 months of purchase the vent hood malfunctioned while automatically adjusting the speed to boost mode. The vent hood was so loud sounded like a small airplane, followed by internal parts rumbling. The vent hood simply makes a humming noise. The venthood was only used a handful of times before failing.

After a few years of ownership, I have noticed the following intermittent issues: 1) when trying to turn off the Light, the light does not turn off but the "Boost (10 min)" fan turns on. 2) the fan turned itself on. Auto Sense was not enabled. The cooktop was not in use.

I™™ve installed many range hoods, in my 40+ years as a builder/contractor. Never have I had to remove the number of screws and take off the parts, just to install two screws. It doesn™™t say anything about removing these items in the Installation instructions. Also, the hood is so flimsy and the wall bracket is so thin it doesn™™t hold the duct cover flush against the wall. The time wasted installing this hood and from the other reviews stating they don™™t last. I can honestly say, IT™™S NOT WORTH YOUR TIME OR YOUR MONEY!!!!

I have now been transferred 3 times in the 1.5hrs that I was on hold with Customer Service so here we go. The hood is amazing to look at but, I'm missing a part to be able to install the appliance on the wall. I am in need of a Vent cover bracket so I can cover up the vent pipe going to the ceiling. Upon opening the box and going through the installation instructions, it seems as though it was never placed in the box to begin with. Beautiful to look at but in need of a part and can't get help with getting one

We had the canopy hood installed prior to moving into our new home and after being tested a few days later after working fine, we heard a noise like something was making contact with the fan. Turns out that some flapper piece turned downward and was making contact, which broke a few plastic fan pieces. Beautiful piece, but very unfortunate to have that happen after everything was all set in place.

So I purchased and paid for my appliance package for a new home construction in December 2021. Still waiting for a cooktop - at this point the vent is a piece of expensive art doing nothing while I live in my home not being able to cook anything. Dealer called on Friday saying I will get the new cooktop on Monday - now they say the new one is damaged and it will be another 4-6 weeks! Get your stuff (you know what I mean) together Kitchen Aid!

This hood fan has a great power and is really useful keeping my kitchen without smelling for the whole day and reminding us about the last meal. Nowadays, with open concept kitchens, this is a crucial piece of your kitchen. The power of this device is great, but I™™d never expect that a high end product like this would die around the 1 year of standard warranty. I particularly chose KitchenAid for seeing it as a reliable and trustworthy brand that would last for many years with no issues. Unfortunately, I was wrong. I noticed the vent wasn™™t always work from the first push of a button, maybe second or third™¦ it was working intermittently until it stopped. I called maintenance service and it seems the motor died and I™™ll have to pay almost the same price as a new one to change it. It™™s a good product while it lasts. I expected it lasted more, but now I™™m having to handle the fixing of it after such a short time. I™™m frustrated.

I love this his vent. It's beautiful in my kitchen. 5 vent settings (low, med, high, turbo, and auto. But I like the lights the best. Two bright, front lights and a separate rear light that works more as a nightlight to give your kitchen a warm ambiance in the evenings. Love it!

I did a full Kitchenaid renovation including the 36™ wall mount range hood. I installed the hood myself to save some cost. Positives: The hood is aesthetically attractive The hood has a strong exhaust function Easy to clean filters. (Baffles on other hoods are a pain to clean.) The installation was not difficult. It helped to have a second person go assist in setting the unit in place. The instructions were clear except as noted below The edges of the sheet metal pieces have been rounded so as not to present sharp cutting edges. Negatives: The Kitchenaid Sales person didn™™t infirm me that the exhaust requires an expensive extension to extend over 9 feet. I have a 10 foot ceiling. What high end kitchen has only a 9 feet ceiling?! The extension is $350. Support and parts was useless. Several times I was on hold for 40+ minutes only for them to disconnect the call when they closed. This is infuriating. They could not answer fundamental questions: what psrt do I need to extend the exhaust shroud and does the foam piece that sits behind the fan housing need to be removed? The unit is not backlit so you need to guess where the various invisible buttons are. The matching 36™ range has no timer. (You would expect that one would be provided on the range hood. Yes I understand that there is a timer on the wifi-connected app which we don™™t like to use. The most filthy object is a mobile phone. Why do I want to handle it while I handle food. Note to designers: I don™™t need a connected range. I wod never remotely operate an oven when I am not nearby. In my opinion, connected appliances are unnecessary technology looking for a reason to crank up selling prices.) I can™™t recommend this hood but I can™™t warn people away from it. It has so much more promise if Kitchenaid would address the issues -especially customer service!

This hood is an attractive addition to my fabulous induction range. The electrician put it too high the first time and once it was lowered to a better level I was informed that I needed to purchase a section of 6" aluminum vent and a clamp to complete the installation. The electrician explained that it's standard practice to have this VERY IMPORTANT PART of the installation NOT included in the actual purchase of the hood! Okay. Got that! Now how on earth do I remove the sticky residue from the labels...?

This hood is poorly designed and for the price you should find a different hood. The shroud is too big to fit down correctly onto the hood , the shroud gets scratched while you are installing. The hood itself has the mounting holes 10 inches apart completely eliminating the chance of hitting two studs. It™™s much too heavy to trust to drywall anchors. The knockout for the electric wasn™™t actually cut and I had to cut it out instead of just knocking it out. Overall this is a giant piece of garbage , I have fought it from the beginning of the install. Do not buy.

Missing Metal Grease Filters

I purchased this wall mounted range hood from Lowe's South Jacksonville, FL store at 4040 Oldfield Crossing DR as part of a kitchen remodeling project also by Lowe's. Lowe's contractors installed the exhaust hood, but when reviewing the operating instruction I went to show my wife how to remove and clean the metal grease filters only to discover 2 of the 3 filters were missing. I'm disappointed in Lowe's, had I not showed my wife where the grease filters were located she would have used the exhaust hood, the trapped grease would have been absorbed by the insulation creating a fire hazard. I understand you are not responsible for Lowe's failure to inform me of the missing grease filters; however, I would like the 2 filters replaced, so my wife can begin using the cooktop. Your assistance is greatly appreciated. I've attached a photo depicting the missing filters. I'm placing this in the reviews in the hope someone will respond, Lowe's has been slow to respond. I'm clicking the ratings because it's apparently required to submit this post, while I expect it to perform up to Kitchen Aid standards we cannot use the product at this time without creating a fire hazard. I'm only clicking low rating in the hope it will get a response, I'm getting the run around from Lowe's.

Does Not Work With Induction

I actually purchased the 30" model, but I'm re-posting my review here to qualify for the sweepstakes. I assume that my experience with the 30" model would also apply to the 36" model. This unit has a automatic shutoff feature that senses heat from the cooktop and turns the unit off after a few minutes if no heat is detected. We have an induction cooktop, which of course does not radiate heat itself but heats pots through induction. Even if we had two or three large pots going on the cooktop, the fan would turn off. There is no way to bypass the shut off. We asked the salesperson and Whirlpool customer service if there was any problem with induction before installing the unit. None of the marketing material, the salespeople at the appliance store, nor Whirlpool customer service were aware of this design flaw. And of course you can't return these appliances once they're out of the box, although the retailer where we purchased it did reluctantly take it back after we paid a hefty restocking fee. There is a corresponding auto-on feature that is supposed to turn the unit on when heat is detected and also automatically adjust the fan speed. That feature also did not work with our induction cooktop. Other issues which should convince you to avoid this product: - Whirlpool customer service is completely useless. I contacted them for ducting requirements before installing the unit. All they would do is to refer me to a local installer. However, the installer would only tell me that they "don't do ducting", although they would be happy to charge me $200 to hang the unit on the wall as long as the ducting is already in place. - The unit is very clumsy to hang compared to the Venmar hood I replaced it with. The hanging screws are located in the motor housing which is made of very cheap and flimsy sheet metal. The Venmar, on the other hand, provided a proper hanging bracket that is much easier to position and install, and is also much more stable and reliable.

Elegant Wall Mount Hood

KitchenAid has a very attractive design. It would be at home in both a traditional and contemporary kitchen. Although early, the unit appears to work well.
