Love the freezer space and layout. Not crazy about the way the refrigerator doors close. It has something to do with the way the extra flap closes the seal. Love all the adjustable options though.

Was replacing another French door with freezer on the bottom that only lasted 7 years. This refrigerator was the closest in style that I really liked. Hope it has better longevity. Also it came in white which for some reason is not that easy to find.

We bought this a couple of months ago when our old fridge went out unexpectantlly. So far it's a pretty good product however the freezer light keeps going on and off. The freezer also seems a little small for a family of five. Overall it's ok.

Huge Upgrade

Purchased this about 2 months ago. Major upgrade in our kitchen. Love the bottom freezer and the ice cube maker. French doors are very convient and hold a lot of food items.

Irritations
Two Inlets

1) Freezer drawer has no bottom, so when you drop something small enough to fit through the wires, it falls on the kitchen floor.2) It would sure be nice if the temperature display "box" at the top front of the fridge was smaller/not so wide. It makes it difficult to get taller things in and out.3) The rounded design of the door shelves reduces storage space. It's difficult to get much in the shelves/bins.I am happy with the ice maker. Overall, however, I would not get this fridge again nor would I recommend it to a friend.

We purchased this model because it currently is the closest one to the Maytag MBF25556HEW (25.1 cu. ft.) which we purchased in April 2005 and were very happy with. This past April after nine years of flawless service the freezer defroster stopped working. After reading up on the issue and the age of the unit we decided it would be more cost effective to purchase a new one. Apparently, Maytag no longer makes a single door entry for units of this size. So, sight unseen we purchased this French door model. This one is almost identical to our MBF25556HEW except for the following:1.) The refrigerator glass shelving no longer slides outward for easy access. (I did save the slide-out shelving from our old unit since it was a one-for-one replacement.)2.) We order the unit in white thinking it was similar to our previous one; we were wrong. The front of the unit is no longer textured. If we knew this beforehand we probably would have ordered the supposed stainless steel one; which may not be exactly real because magnets do stick to it.3.) The model did not come with the previous butter stick dish or egg container; so we saved the ones from our old unit.4.) The two freezer compartment baskets do not appear to pull out as far as our previous ones.5.) The upper freezer basket contains a divider that cannot be removed and actually makes for less storage space. Note, this divider may be removable, but I cannot figure it out and the owner's manual says nothing about this.Following are some other observations:1.) My wife and I feel this double door model actually has less storage space and takes a few more seconds to access items within the refrigerator than our previous one.2.) The owner's manual is made of your daily newspaper-like material compared to the book or magazine Quality paper with our previous one. In my opinion, the owner's manual is actually worthless unless you are installing the unit yourself, including mounting the doors and etcetera. I even checked the Maytag website thinking more instructions were available there; but I was wrong, there was only the manual I received.3.) There is no explanation for how to move the unit out from its position after once professionally installed and leveled out so it does not roll at all; let's say we wanted to clean or paint the wall behind the unit and not scar or cut the flooring beneath it when we move it; there are no instructions.4.) The food we placed in the special dairy compartment froze solid even though the temperature setting for this compartment was in the factory setting of midrange and our temperature gauge in the refrigerator section was reading 39 degrees F. Note, there are no instructions in the owner's manual that even address the dairy food compartment. And what is this "Bright Light Series Lighting Package"? There is no explanation in the owner's manual and my wife and I notice no difference from our 2005 model.5.) As a final observation this model was $500 more expensive than our previous one; but with less features; our opinion. This is what I have noticed so far after two months of ownership.

French Door Refrigerator is great to have!
Gregori

We've only had it for a few weeks, but we've noticed a difference already. The extra space has been great! Easy access to all the food and the convenience of the french doors makes this a great refrigerator. We can open the doors all the way without banging to a counter and the full width allows us to put larger foods (like pizza's) in without having to turn them like a side by side would have made us do.
